MORE THAN HALF OF THE WORLD'S PRIVATE INVESTMENTS WENT TO STARTUPS IN THE USA

However, the US and its cities are still topping the charts on StartupBlink's Global Ecosystem Rankings Index. This chart shows part of this success story, showing that more than half of the world’s private investment funding went to US startups in 2021.

Looking at the example of the US, there are two lessons we can learn:

1) investing early in your startup ecosystem is crucial
2) a healthy startup ecosystem has a private sector that is the real and only engine of sustainable ecosystem growth.

As the saying goes: “The best time to plant a tree was 20 years ago. The second best time is now.” A warm congratulation is due to other countries with a growing share in the global investment pie, including the United Kingdom and Germany who overperform compared to their population size.
